What Lady Lake does to a window
Lady Lake holds the oldest part of The Villages, from Orange Blossom Gardens and the Villages of Lady Lake around Spanish Springs out through Silver Lake and Country Club Hills, and it holds some of the biggest live oaks in the area. Those oaks were here before the first villa went in, and from February into April they drop tassels and a fine yellow pollen that coats every window, slider and screen in town, followed by Spanish moss that comes down with every storm and packs into the tracks and gutters. On the west side of town the land drops to Lake Griffin, and Harbor Hills sits on the bluff above it with the fairways running down to the water, where the morning fog off the lake pulls the pollen onto the glass.
The water out of the ground is the other constant. Lady Lake irrigation runs mostly on wells heavy in iron, and the sprinklers that hit the same lower panes every morning through the dry season leave orange rust streaks and white spots that build month over month. On the golf course lots at Harbor Hills and the Villages courses on this side of 466, the reclaimed water overspray from the fairways reaches the lanai glass as well. Water Oak and the older villa sections have lanais and screened porches that stay damp through the summer rains and grow a gray-green film on the glass and screens by August. Highway 27 and 441 traffic adds a layer of road dust to anything facing the road.
A quarterly plan suits most Lady Lake homes, with the inside glass and mirrors done once a year, and most customers add a visit right after the spring pollen. Fairway homes at Harbor Hills and homes on well irrigation often go to every two months through the dry season to keep the rust from setting. Harbor Hills homes have tall great-room glass facing the lake and the course, and we clean it with water-fed poles from the ground and ladders where needed. Do you clean the lanai sliders and the screens?
Yes. The sliding glass doors onto the lanai are usually the dirtiest glass in a Lady Lake home, and we clean both sides, clean the tracks so the doors glide, and clean the door and window screens on the Platinum package. We do not pressure wash the pool cage itself, but we get the glass behind it clear and the tracks free of moss and grit on every visit.
