What Wildwood does to a window
Wildwood is where The Villages is still being built. Brownwood Paddock Square sits inside the city limits, and south of State Road 44 the Villages of Fenney, DeSoto, Marsh Bend, St. Catherine and Chitty Chatty went in over the last few years on old pasture and oak hammock along the Florida Turnpike and County Road 468. Construction is the first thing the glass deals with down here. Every new section puts fine sand and lime dust in the air that settles on windows and lanai glass a mile away, and the grading leaves bare ground that blows on dry spring afternoons. The live oaks left standing in the hammocks drop tassels and pollen from February into April and shed Spanish moss into the tracks and gutters all year.
The water is the same as the rest of The Villages. Irrigation runs on well water and reclaimed water heavy in iron and minerals, and the sprinklers that hit the same lower panes and lanai sliders every morning leave orange rust streaks and white spots that build through the dry season. On the golf course lots along the new executive and championship courses south of 44, the reclaimed water overspray from the fairways reaches the glass as well. Under the screened enclosures the air stays still and damp through the summer rains and the slider glass and screens grow a gray-green film by August. In Oxford, the older homes at Continental Country Club and Lakeside Landings sit under mature oaks and pines and get the shade mildew and needle drop on top of everything else.
A quarterly plan suits most Wildwood and Oxford homes, with the inside glass and mirrors done once a year, and most customers add a visit right after the spring pollen. New homes near active construction and golf course lots on well or reclaimed irrigation often go to every two months until the sections around them finish. A first cleaning, inside and out, is $259 for a home up to 2,000 square feet, $329 for 2,000 to 3,500 square feet, and $429 for larger homes on our Silver package. After that, a quarterly maintenance plan runs $60, $77, or $100 a month for those same home sizes. Lakefront and estate homes get a custom quote.
How often should windows be cleaned in Wildwood?

Can you get construction dust off new glass without scratching it?
Yes, and this matters in Fenney, Chitty Chatty and anywhere a section is still going in. Sand and lime dust is gritty, and wiping it dry is how new glass gets scratched. We wet the glass first, wash it with a soft brush or strip washer, then squeegee, so the grit floats off instead of dragging across the pane. Tracks and screens get the same treatment and hold most of the dust.
Can you clean a brand new home before we move in?
Yes. Builder cleans often leave stickers, silicone smears and lime dust on the glass and grit in the slider tracks, and we clean all of it on the first visit, inside and out, including the lanai sliders and the mirrors. Tell us the closing date on the quote form and we will schedule the first clean for the days between closing and the furniture arriving.
